      Basic 3D Printing 2 (FDM)

Get hands on and learn about the Lulzbot Taz 6 3D printer and its specialized extruders. This one hour workshop will be based around the physical 3D printing process, with special attention to the different extruders available for these machines which allow for printing very fast, printing very flexible materials, and printing two materials at once. This is an intermediate workshop and requires basic knowledge of 3D printing gained from running these machines. If you are a beginner, take 3D Printing 1 first. These workshops are limited to small groups to ensure every participant has time to work with a machine and ask questions. You are encouraged to come back and practice to solidify your knowledge and complete your first print using a Taz.  We will split out time between the machine and its slicing software, Cura, which is very similiar to Slic3r. We will orient ourselves in Cura by reviewing print resolution and orientation, then we will build our knowledge of model set-up by adding supports and rafts then exploring other types of printing materials and material profile settings.   We will not have enough time to cover dual extrusion printing in detail. If you are interested in learning more about dual extrusion printing, please request an upcoming workshops on multimaterial printing. This workshop will NOT cover use of software for file generation of any kind. To learn skills and file development techniques in programs such as Rhino and Fusion360, you must sign up for one of the workshops that covers these programs.
