Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

Mental Health first aid is an evidence-based, public health training program that teaches participants the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges or crisis, what to do in an emergency, and where to turn for help. MHFA is implemented around the U.S. and the world. Research has shown that the training reduces stigma, enhances behavioral health literacy, and improves participants' behavioral health. Although the course cost is covered by Aurora Mental Health Center and of no charge to you, a fee of $20.00 (cash or check) is due at the beginning of the class to cover the cost of the MHFA book. FAQs   Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? The minimum age is 18, but for many young people, the material in the MHFA curriculum makes them feel personally responsible for the well-being of those around them. A conversation with parents or mentors of a young person is often necessary to determine whether it would be appropriate for a young person to take Mental Health First Aid.    What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? There is free parking on site at the library.   What can I bring into the event? Water and snacks. There is a water dispenser to re-fill your water bottle on site.   Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No, you will not need to bring a ticket.
